Question (fbod vs vette) ecu's

I notice the Vette's have more "trip computer" functions to them. Are those a function of the ECU, or another computer? I drove in an Lt1 vette today and was talking with it's owner, who says the gas gauge is pretty accurate (better tank shape?) and the trip meter helps too.

My thought is, what drives the trip functions? If it's a simple thing to just plug in (like an unused cycle) it could make life easier for those of us that never trust our gas gauge and want a better way of knowing milage. Not to mention it'd be just something neat.

I know the HUD used by the ls1's wont work in it, but for lt1 or ls1 fbod owners, might it work?

What other differences are there?
