FAST/Speed Pro (old version) vs. XFI

I just fried my PCM with Tunercat, and am considering upgrading to a stand alone setup. Obviously, I'm not thrilled about spending $2k+ on a new system. I've noticed you can pick up some of the older (non XFI) FAST systems for around $1K or less. I can't find too much info on the older setups. What are the main differences between those and the XFI system? Can you still tune in real time? A friend of mine has the XFI system and it seems pretty user friendly. How about the old ones. Feedback is definitely appreciated.
