EGR - what is the correct RPM setting?
EGR - what is the correct RPM setting?
While going through the previous computer program, it seems that the previous programmer turned off the EGR. The program was set to 8000 which means that the EGR will never be activated.
My current programmer set the EGR to open at 3500 RPM.
This is for a 1995 LT1 with a T56. What is the correct RPM parameter for EGR operation?
Thank you.

If the car idles at 1000 RPM, wouldn't having the EGR open at 900 affect the IAC?
Also, smog tests in California raise RPMs to 3000. Wouldn't it reduce NOx to have the EGR open to say 3200?
Thanks.

Wild1:
There is a table in the 95 PCM that can increase advance by from 1 to 5° when EGR is commanded (from 800 to 2000 rpm and idle to light throttle vacuum). Apparently because opening the EGR path will dilute the mix in the chamber and require more advance. (Don't know if this helps) Though my EGR was not functional anymore the PCM thought it was and would try to activate it and at inspection I had NOT zero'd the EGR advance table yet ... I had an NOx reading of 7 against an 879 standard (new exhaust system included a new catalyst converter). With the old exhaust (stock original 12 years old, EGR working) 2 years previously, I had NOx of 217 against the 879 standard. (This is in New Jersey, I don't know about test rpms ... might be 2500, the results were marked ASM 5015 Advanced Emission Test)
