Edit Settings for 160 Thermo?

I'm trying to figure out the correct changes to make in LS1Edit for a 160 Thermostat. I posted on the e-group and someone suggested these settings:

*********************************************
- OPTIMIZED FOR 160 Hypertech PowerStat

Camaro/Firebird/Corvette
Fan 1 on/off at: 184F/175F
Fan 2 on/off at: 194F/185F
*********************************************

But then there seemed to be some debate on whether these setting are too low or not. So what is your opinion? If you have different settings that you would suggest please by all means post up.

Thanks guys,
Mike

Its been awhile since I've looked at Hypertech flashes, but I used 179ºF settings for fan 1 on my LT1. Use what you like and change it later if you want.

I never really ever saw fan #2 come on except on race days (no, not drag).

160 thermo fan settings

I have a 160 thermostat with Fan 1 to come on at 185 and Fan 2 to come on at 196. Fan 1 off at 180 and fan 2 off at 191.

These settings have worked very well for me. However, I only run the car in temps above freezing (car is stored during the winter). If I did drive during the winter I would put the stock 180 back in and adjust the fan temps accordingly. In hot stop and go summer traffic the temps are about 200 at the max. I never have a problem with the engine going into closed loop.

The temp at normal highway cruise is around 180 degrees.

I have no issues with heat in the spring and fall with these settings. The engine internals are as clean as a whistle (Mobil 1) and no sign of sludge or condensation. Just my $0.02

Regards,

Sounds good, my settings were probably overkill and could shorten the fan life.

What would be good, is to use a set of settings, and then back them off a couple deg at a time for FAN #1 until you see a change that you dont like. Most of the time I ran under 180º all the time, other than road race days, in which case the radiator gets overpowered.

I am also running a 160deg Stat in my car and plan on having my fan settings like this.

Fan1 on at 180
Fan1 off at 170

I think this should work pretty good. I don't have a 2nd fan.
