ECM troubles

ever since i pluged my stage 2 chip into my 87 iroc my idle has been all ****ed up and ive been getting a code 24, defective ECM or VSS. when i start it up it idles fine, but then it drops down and hunts. when the cars is not in motion the code will come on, but then when im in motion it goes away and youre suppose to disregard it when it does that. this chip did it to my other 87 as well, but eventually went away, i think. is my chip defective/wrong or is my ECM/VSS ****ed up?

Have you tried putting the stock chip back in? If so does the same thing happen?

as soon as i put the chip in the first time the idle dropped immediately and was hunting dramaticly, especially when i gave it some gas. i took it out and switched back to the stock chip and has been in ever since, but regardless the idle drop and code problem stated in the original post still exist.
