Dynotuning

I would like to start out by saying hello to all the members on this site. I have been reading a lot of info that people have posted the past few weeks. Mostly the forced induction and programming forums. And the info is great. My question is. Can anyone refer me to a dynotuner in the chicago area that will program my computer chip why on the the dyno to reach a realitivly conservative tune. My car is a Procharged 92Z28 with many bottom and top end mods done to the motor. Any info is greatly appreciated.

HEY YO,

WAS SUP DUDE? WELCOME TO THE BOARD

I am also in the Chicago area. There are a couple of decent companies out there, but one of the best I have seen in terms of dyno is Speed Inc.

You can check them out here

Hope that helps, peace

Thanks, wheelmanz28 this wil help out when it's time for the z to go in. By the way why do you call yourself wheelmanz. Do you know a lot about wheels? Like chroming and polishing? Just curious. Thanks, again

Nah...he's been watching too much Fast and Furious...."what are you a wheelman or something?" J/K

As far as Speed Inc goes...I know they don't do chips yet. They don't have the equipment or software. I have been in contact with Larry and they are aware that I would be willing to help with them. Only thing is...I don't have the stuff to do a TPI car...only the 93 LT1's.
I suppose I could get the stuff to do it though. I could figure what it would cost for the software and see if they'd be willing to tune it since they'd know more about doing a blown car than I would.
Or they might know someone that can do a TPI chip there for you.
Do you have a mail order chip or anything from someone that could be used as a base or is this a total custom/from scratch job?

I have a mail order chip from FAST chips in OK. I gave Speed Inc. a call and they said what they could do is run a few pulls to get a base line and fax the info over to them and then of course burn the chip again. I think this will be the way approach it when it comes time. I really appreciate the help. By the way you are putting up some nice numbers with just bolt ons. Let me know if you go to any race tracks or car shows in the spring. I would be interested and my car should be done by then. Thanks again

Just figured I'd offer. I'm pretty sure I've got the stuff to do it and the only thing I'd need is the definition file for a TPI car from TunerCat. That would be $20.
Up to you though.

That would be great if you could burn a new chip while we were dynoing. I would really be able to dial this baby in. How long does it take for you to burn a chip providing i get you the right definition? I dont know much about tuner cat or programming for that matter. But i am starting to get the lingo down and it is very interesting to me. Maybe you could tell me a little about the hardware and software you use to do it.

To burn the chip....15 seconds.
To get a good program going....it could take 20 pulls and a couple hours on the dyno. Hard to say.
All that is needed as an editing software (TunerCat), a datalogger (Datamaster), the cable that plugs into the aldl port (I'm pretty sure one I have would work...I'd have to ask), the circuit board that the chip would plug into (should have come with your Ed Wright chip), a reflashable eprom (I have one that will work), and something to actually burn the program into the chip (I have a pocket programmer).
Check out http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml to read up on what is involved.

Shoot me an e-mail sometime and we'll continue this there....I don't see an e-mail addy for you.
