Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Did a search and nothing came up for Canada anyway. Don't feel like driving to the states for a dyno tune.
I am looking for a dyno for my newly installed heads/cam.
Does anyone know of a good dyno tuner in the Toronto area?
I don't have a PCM cable so I can't tune or feel comfortable tuning the car myself. I want a dyno tune to get the most out of my car.
Thanks in advance.

Well I really dont like these guys and have heard not so great things about them in the past but there is ARE( Agostino Racing ) they are in Pickering and specialize in LT1 and LS1 cars. look them up on

Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
I had my original tune done two years ago at ARE and washed my cylinders out first 500 miles, glazed walls and out it had to come, at my expense.
Found a shop in bramptom called splitfire with a dyno they are usually a import shop owner Paul has a friend with experiece tuning LT1s. He came in tuned my car no issues than couple of weeks later retuned a car that was tuned at ARE that had drivabilty issues now OK
He then taught me how to tune my own car. I now have tunercat and am not at anyones mercy anymore.

I have heard good and bad things of ARE. Mostly bad and really overpriced.
They quoted me $500 US for a dyno tune.

I haven't heard of spitfire but will check them out. Did the guy who tuned your car use a wideband 02?
I also heard of a guy named Vince that works out of Protech. Have you heard of him before?

Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Protech and splitfire both got ther dynos at the same time both wideband both latest dynojets.
Have never been to protech only heard of them so I can't make a comment without firsthand experience and I dont think Vince is working out of there shop.
Most tuners try to make what they are doing seem like magic. ARE burnt me for 500 also and 200 twice when I went back to try to get the car to run right.
My car is making over 550 at the wheels, now idles like a stock car, has 14-17 pounds vac at idle and passed an offline e test (yes cats). Also in same trim ran 11.01 at 131.25 with a 1.79 60 foot.
What did I change in change in the stock tables, off boost nothing only the timing at 100 kpa and pe tables.
I guess maybe GM knows what they are doing and the stock programing has a lot of flexibility.
I learned the hard way, I had a car that for two years blew huge clouds of black blue and whatever every time I hit the gas. I was embarrased to drive it the smoke was so bad.
AND I PAID FOR THE PRIVILAGE.
Vince did baseline my car, and explained what we where doing we only had short time on dyno thats why only the pe and timing tables where touched. I think I gave Vince 100.00 and Paul just charged hourly for dyno.

Vince has a very good rep, I don't know how to contact him. Canadians have been known to appear at www.kennedysdynotune.com here in Buffalo.

Vince doesn't tune for Protech anymore. But he is definitly the best lt1 tuner there is and he still tunes on his own and just rents a local dyno.
John Ventresca at protech is a crook.

I heard bad things about Portech from the shop that ported my heads. Said they rip everyone off.

I sent you a pm.
Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Signing a waiver is the status quo...but you're right, John is a scam artist.
He blew up some poor kid's ls1 with just a mild cam and ported heads and said it was because they were making too much power for stock parts. Ugh some people these days!
Stay away from Protech is the only advice I can give.

Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Dyno Power service on Nantucket road, Scarborough. It's by Straight line racing (where I take my car). Haven't been there for a while, but the owner is a pretty cool guy. Last time I was there is was something like $75 for 3 runs. Don't know what the price now is.
Get the adress for Straight line racing. Then you'll be able to find Dyno power services 'cause it's literlally right down the street. Its at a dead end so you can't miss it.

Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
I had my car dyno'd at Redline Performance in Scarborough, on Sheppard east of McCowan (416-292-5320). I think I paid $100 for 3 baseline runs with the A/F gauge hooked up (no tuning done though). I think it might have been a little cheaper if I paid cash instead of plastic
.
I think the guys in there know what they're doing. One of them used to work at Agostino's (he built his own 422 LS1 powered '67 Camaro) and the owner now has that same '67, but with a relatively stock LS6 in it
. I've also seen them work on probably the sweetest '69 Z28 ever, that has a 540 big-block, sprayed, very streetable though, and runs 8.90's @ ~158 mph!!
(it might actually have run quicker than that too?
).
.....anyways, they might be worth checking out
. Chances are I'll probably go back there for future dyno tuning.

Re: Dyno Tuner in Toronto area!
Sorry to hear about that but aaai know just how you feel. I had dealings with ARE Nick Agostino for going on 4 years, and all I can say about them is stay away from them like the plague. Nick Agostino is a lying thief and should be in prison. I had 2 engines built by his stinking company and both were junk. I still want to take him to court but he proberly doesn't have a pot to **** in. He cost me 4 years of headaches and a lot of money, some day me and him are going to meet. Do you know how to tell when Nick Agostino is lying? as soon as he opens his big mouth.
