Datamaster read question
Hey all,
When taking data, I see that my RPM's are kinda funky and never really noticed this before:
Upper left you have the RPM / RPM 16. I see that my RPM's will not go above 6375 but my RPM 16's will. Is this common?
I have a new install of Datamaster in a new computer so wondering if this is an isse.
Thank you,
Ben

Yes, this is normal.
The reason is that regular RPM comes back as an 8-bit "byte" in the datastream. This is a PCM limitation, not a Datamaster limitation.
Each increment of the bit is 25 RPM in value. A byte can go from 0 to 255 in value (255 is the highest that an 8-bit byte will go). 255x25=6375.
The RPM16 uses 2 bytes (16 bits) for the RPM value, so it can go higher.
