Datamaster pro's, got a question for ya...

I have looked over the help files but I must still be doing something wrong. I really haven't had a chance to mess with it, we just had a baby so time constraints have kept me from working on the car. Anyway, I have set up the Comm Port and when I test the connection it says it is comunicating with the PCM. So I select "open file" the create a new file name and I guess I am not too sure what to do from there. Do you just start the car or what? The green light is on like it is recording but it won't let me save anything. Oh it won't let me clear any of the codes. I can't recall the exact error message bit it makes me think it isn't reading at all. Can't retrieve VIN either. Any pointer guys? Thanks!

Yes, start the car. Then press "Start".

problems

Okay I am in the car right now. I hit Test Com and it say's "Test Com passed, PCM Detected", but when I hit start and crank the car up top it says no "PCM Sync" and begins a recycling process that continues the entire time. It also displays "0" records as well. When I press Stop and see if I can save there apparently is nothing to save. Also whenever I press "Single", "CLR EMALFS", or get VIN, it says "Unable to establish Comunications" . How could it say that after it shows it when I pressed "Test Com"?

OK, try this. Start the car first, plug in the cable, and then press start.

Okay, never workied for me. My computer actually crashed so I had to reload datamaster back on it. Now when I go in there to try to take a reading there is only one comm port available. I tried to hook everything up, hit "Test Com" and it said the ALDL adapter is working but no PCM is detected. It even says that when the cable is unplugged from the car/computer. The correct car is selected. Idea's?
