data stream drops out / errors
data stream drops out / errors
so while trying to record with datamaster and a usb cable i encounter a lot of errors / connection problems / drop outs. i can connect and record and get valid data but there are errors riddled through out the data set. here is an example

what i am wondering is what are common causes for this?
i am thinking about tapping into the wire right outside of the pcm. would it be better to just splice into the existing wire and leave the current circuit in tact and just "piggyback" onto it? or should i cut the wire completely and go straight to my usb cable from there?
any ideas?
any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Re: data stream drops out / errors
Did you download the .pdf of the manual? Look at page 61, 7.1.5

Can be caused by poor connection, electrical interference on the data line, or unfiltered noise from a poorly grounded aftermarket ignition.
