Is converter lock up controlled by speedo on a 89 IROC?
Rephrased question from a post the other day:

What does the speedo have to do with my computer on an 89 IROC?
Anyway, my new question:
I have an 89 IROC Z and am in need of new gauges. I've been told that on the 90-92 that the speedo controls torque converter lock up and a few other things on the speed density set up. I have MAF and a cable driven speedo. What does the cable driven speedo have to do with my computer on my IROC. I've been driving it with no noticable problem with the speedo cable broken so what is the difference?
