Code 51 'EEPROM ERROR'?prob..

Car was parked for a few days, and now it won't start.
I get a MIL light that stays lit after self test after turning key on.. also 'check gages' light stays lit..
Using an AutoXray I scanned for DTC's and only one was: ' 51 EEPROM ERROR'
Cleared that by removing PCM fuse.
Did some tests: no injector pulses, no AC[on multimeter AC scale] pulses to ICM either.
Battery voltage good, cranks good, has fuel pressure, no fire.
I changed the Opti to a new GM AC Delco in July, that has about 2k miles on it.Ran great when I parked it.
THe code 51 is a new one for me.. the opti usually is 16 or 36 low res or hi res... [ neither of those DTC's were set..]
I am not that PCM savvy, and want to know if this is the PCM that is bad? or is it another opti?
If the PCM, why? The car was just parked, and no programming attempts etc being done[I understand interrupted programming can ruin a PCM] it was just raining [no lightning tho]
I have to go to work here in a few minutes but thought I would post and get any thoughts anyone may have..

My Q is: will '51 EEPROM ERROR' DTC result in no injector pulses or ignition pulses? Or is it the opti again? Why would the EEPROM fail just sitting parked?
Want to narrow it down a bit before getting into it..
Did search on DTC 51 it doesnt seem very common..
Thanks in advance...Charlie

No ideas? No one has ever had a DTC 51?
Trying to find out more about the problem, before getting into it..
My thought is to get PCM reflashed[and a tune while I am at it ]and see if that cures the problem..if not.. I guess it's another opti..
Feel free to post any info or ideas..

Guess I am the only person ever to get a DTC 51? Hard to believe that...

Anything is possible with a 51 code. A 51 is catastrophic. If reflashing the PCM doesn't work, replacement is the only other option. Here is the best place to start and they are a sponsor of this site.

Darn good price for a replacement that is already programmed too.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply..
I checked the power and grounds to the PCM, and also unhooked battery cablefor a while, and it's still failing..
I emailed Ion also, thanks for the link too..
Looks like a PCM is needed, I was hoping not..
Hard to believe parking it for 8 days did this.. It ran fine when parked..
