How do I go about changing shift points?

I'm using FAST and the only thing my stock computer is used for is to control the dash and 4L60E tranny.

If I make an interface cable is there a program that will let me change these shifting points?

any of the lt1 edit,tunercat,or even a hpp will let you adjust the trans.

 

How strong are the auto trannies? I have a 95 Formula with the o/d tranny... I believe it's the 4l60e or something? I have tunercat but didn't know how much to raise the shift points or if it's even worth it... can the tranny hold up? The car has 110K miles on it but had a rebuilt tranny put in at around 90K I believe...

 

imo in a stock car there is no benifit to raising the shift points.it will just make it rev higher than it makes power,and hurt performance.

 

c5...that's exactly what I was thinking. What do you think about raising the shift firmness though? Wouldn't that be the same as making it shift quicker? I recorded a WOT run through a gear to get a shift recorded in DataMaster and the shift looked like it took some time to get through... although I'm not sure how long they're supposed to take... but could that in effect make the car quicker in the quarter if it shifts not higher but quicker?

 

you can increase the firmness,and it should help.some people dont like making them shift harder claming a durability problem but i have mine pretty firm with no problems so far.

 

One of the things I like most about my car... which I also plan on taking advantage of, is the "performance" button for the tranny. So I can adjust the tables for shift firmess when in performance mode, and have normal shifts when the button isn't on. I'll keep the actual shift points the same though.

C5, are you going to increase the line pressure to increase "firmness"? If so how much?

I am new to all this programming stuff, so sorry if this questions seems a little silly.

I am doing alot of reading before I make any changes, that way I hopefully know a little about what I am doing.

 

increasing the line pressure is the way to do it.there is a table called line pressure offset in current gear.in that i added to the numbers there.i will e-mail you a tunercat file if you are using tunercat
