Cell 18 for anything off idle?

Just got a laptop and cable, I downloaded freescan and pccomm and monitored the PCM with each. I'm working with a mail order tune and just checking things out sitting in the garage watching these programs (one at a time). I've got knock, no doubt about it, and I want to get programming software to work on that.
One thing I noticed is I was in cell 16 while at idle but any rpm above that it would go to cell 18 only. I could hold it at 2k, 3k, give it a wot burst, and still just cell 18. What is the deal with that? Also, is there a way to look at the different cells without the car actually being in them, IOW, can I just pull them out somehow?
Also, I noticed tunercat (web page) appears to have multiple programs (read, edit, flash, ect) do you get all of them with purchase?

you only see cell 18 because you didnt reach closed loop yet... give it a few minutes and see what happens. as far as the tunercat.. i believe when you buy the tuner you get the flash utility that will read and reflash your PCM. im not 100% sure since i had the flash utility before tunercat but i know you can select the flash utility in one of the menus up top so that leads me to believe its just included.

Alright, I'll look again and make sure its in closed loop (but i thought it was). I've read about locking it in closed loop, so I wonder...
Also, is there a way to look at all the cells at the same time? like in a table or something? How does datamaster differ from freescan and pccomm?

I guess its just an M6 thing because its definitely in closed loop however, once I hit the road it does go into the other cells.

sometimes when you are running too rich hanging out in the 108 blm range it goes to cell 18, I guess that cell listens to the VE table since the MAF no longer helps.

Not an M6 thing! You need to read more first. http://para.noid.org/~lj/
has a really good programming tutorial and

Fred's site

has some good information.
