Car won't start... pcm???
Car won't start... pcm???
Hey guys my 94 Trans Am just died while going to a friends house the other day. I have fuel, I have spark. I checked the opti today and it seems fine. I checked all my fuses. I also scanned for trouble codes using freescan. Nothing game up. Could something be wrong with my pcm? It seems to communicate fine with my laptop. One thing I noticed is the fans doen't come on when i communicate with freescan. I think they used to do that with my old tuning setup. Is there anything I could look for if the freescan information?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Car won't start... pcm???
If you can connect with the PCM then nothing is wrong with it. Might try pulling off the valve cover to see if the rockers are moving while you crank the motor...Im thinking mechanical issues here like busted timing chain or something.
Re: Car won't start... pcm???
I don't think it's the timing chain it will run pop on a few cylinders at 300 rpm and the opti was distributing spark, if the timing chain was busted the opti would just stay were it was when the chain broke correct? Somebody said if the bearing in the opti was bad it could throw off the timing. The bearing is really nice though, in fact the opti seems like new. The cover is a 95-97 style and the back of it looks really clean seals look perfect. No rust on the bearing at all. The previous owner said he put a new water pump, wires and plugs in but he never mentioned an opti.
