car was converted obd1, need help

Ok, my car was converted to obd1 before I bought it. Every once and a while it will misfire really badly and the ses light comes on. I want to have it scanned at auto zone, but I can't seem to find the diagnostic port. Its definately not under the dash like the one for obd2 is. Can anyone tell me what wires to trace to find it?
thanks
andy

its in the same place they all are. but they cant scan it. because they cant scan 95s and thats pretty much what youve done. is made your car the same as a 95.

you have a obd1 pcm with a obd2 port. under the dash under your right knee

Yeah, but do you think that when the obd1 was installed that maybe they put the diagnostic port somewhere else? If so are there a set of wires I can follow to find it? Or are you saying that computer can't be scanned at all?

I took it to autozone when the ses light came on. He hooked up his scanner to the obd2 diagnostic port and nothing happened (said couldn't establish link or something like that). Aren't the ports different from obd1 cars and pbd2?

If there is an obd2 port they probably hooked it up, if not then you'll need to trace the wires not sure where they are, cant help you there, but if it is hooked up you'll need a cable (obd1 w/ obd2 connector), a laptop, and scanning software. Autozone can only scan obd2 vehicles.

Ok, So am I going to have to buy the obd1 scanner and obd1 cable with obd2 connector? Or is this strictly something that can only be done with a laptop and software?

Yea, you can go that route ^. Or use Freescan which is still good and you dont have to download a patch/crack for it, lol, not that ive never done something like that before, but both of those you'll still need a laptop. OR you could get a ScanMaster for the LT1 which you can mount on your dash wich will give you some pretty good datalogging and you dont need a laptop.

What you need to do if you are gonna have a shop scan the car is to tell them its a 95.. not a 96. The 95's have the same diagnostic port as the OBD2 cars but with the OBD1 computer has you have.
