Question Cant scan the computer!

Hello from Norway!
1994 Camaro Z28 1le LT1, stock, 6 speed man.

- I had problems with my car for over a year now :-( Replaced opti, ignition module, spark plugs/wire, and so on.... NOW my problem is that the car starts after ca. 5 sec. if I just keep the pedal to the floor, and hold the key in start... The "Service engine soon"-light comes on and the enginefan starts, but the computer dont allows me to scan it for codes.. ?? Something wrong with the computer? (I dont know how to explain in good english... but hope you understand) When the car starts, it runs and sound great! I cannot hear anything problem with the engine itselves.

My car was driving fine last october after I fixed a lot of problems with ignition, but suddently it just stopped after driving ca. 20 minutes...And it would not start again. Tried to strart the day after, only ignition, but it would not run. Then another day the car started like nothing had happend???? But I have tried to start the car many times this winter, and now I get the same result everytime, as I first explained... What is this??? PCM? It seems that the car is going crazy?? I just replaced the ignition module again...No help..

C1LE, what are you using to scan the pcm. PC/Software or a OBD1 scanner ? I had a similar stalling and no start problem and it was a pushed in pin on the OPTI harness. The PCM runs the fans when it sees a serious engine failure. The bad cable was causing a DTC 16 OPTI low resolution failure. You could also have a fuel delivery problem, but they usually don't throw codes and run the fans. I would work on getting scan results prior to guessing.. ALSO shoebox has some good info to verify the PCM is receiving signal from OPTI and sending it to the ICM. " http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#opti_test " ,

I dont know whats been using scanning my PCM. My dealer did it. But he told me that the PCM dont gave him any codes. Thanks for reply! I will try the test. I think its the opti again. Only the rotor and cap was replaced. And my dealer didnt know what brand it was. I heard many problems with aftermarked optis.... And I will send my PCM to a another dealer in Norway if the test goes well. Thanks!!

Did you unhook the battery (or "PCM BAT" fuse) before you took it to the dealer for the scan? That would have deleted the stored codes. If the SES light comes on, the code will be stored for a reasonable period of time, then self-clear. DTC 16 doesn't turn on the SES light. But it will prevent the engine from starting if its an active code.

Putting the pedal on the floor puts the PCM into "clear flood" mode. Is there any chance you have some leaking injectors that are flooding the engine when you shut it down? As noted in the post above, though, that problem would not cause the SES light to turn on.

No. I did not unhook the batteri.
How can I test if I have some leaking injectors? When the car finally turns over, it starts fine, and I dont hear anything strange when it runs and when I stop the engine.. ? The car was sometimes hesitating last october, then it suddently shut down, then it would not start, then it start again and the SES light comes on.... As you can se, my cars behavior is unstabile? I think I will check the opti agian.
