can't get this code

OK, I have tried everything to get this code on my 94 camaro and I still can't get it. There doesn't seem to be any drivability problems with it. I hooked it up to PCMCOMM, everything seems normal except the knock count at idle is 2500 which seems a little high. and it stays inopen loop. when I short the AB terminals it just flashes non stop. I've tried Free Scan and I can't get it to work.
anybody know of any other free, or relatively cheap code pullers that will work with a cable from akmcables?

Shorting the pins won't do it. I assume you have the SES on? Connected and set up correctly, Freescan or Datamaster should tell you the code.

Did you just get the "basic" package with the "free" PCMCOMM, or did you purchase the "advanced" version of LT_Edit, which includes the version of PCMCOMM that allows you to log data, and to read and clear DTC codes?

Your knock count is not necessarily a "problem". Knock count is a "cumulative" field.... anytime the sensor reads knock, it pushes up the count. Then the count just sits there until there is another episode of knock. Eventually, it reaches its upper limit and resets to "0". But you will always see a "knock count"..... its only a problem if its changing as you watch it. It isn't unusual for the PCM to advance the count based on some of the signals the knock sensor picks up on startup.

No I just tried the free one.
I was hoping to get the code from Freescan, It worked one time. after that I haven't been able to get it to work.

Thanks for the info about the knock count. I thought it was measuring over a time interval. as in knock/min
but now that number makes a little more sense.
