Can a piggyback chip be installed backwards???

I have a 93 Z28 M6 and I just did heads/cam/injectors. I had Alvin from PCMforless burn me a chip, but the pins on the piggyback chip don't fill all the OE chip's pin holes! My question is can this chip be accidentally installed upside down to the OE chip, or does it not matter which way it's installed?
