Question Can I get rid of the computer in my 81' Z28?

Anyone ever try or know someone who tried to pull out the computer from an 81 Z28 or similar? I'd like to pull it out but i'm not sure what kind of trouble I might have if I do. Can I get a "Painless" wiring harness and re-wire the car? Thanks

try asking over at www.nastyz28.com

I know people tak the comptuers out of their late 2nd gen cars, just not the specifics on it. The people there should be able to help you out.

well im no expert on 2nd gens, but i had an 83 jeep with a computer controlled carb and i took it out, i just needed to splice some wires together that were goin into it that controlled ignition, reset the timing, and toss on a regular edelbrock 650 carb

Yes you can, but you will need to convert to a non-feedback carburetor and a distributor that has centrifugal/vacuum advance.
