CAGS trick to disable the dreaded 3-2 shift

I read about this a few months back but can't find the thread now. What parameters need to be changed? I've heard a few different arguing accounts of how CAGS gets activated.

Some say it's a calculation between speed and load.
Others say it's strictly speed dependant. I know that's wrong.
Others say it's temp/RPM dependant.
Others say it's temp/speed/load dependant. That makes more sense to me.

So if the last scenario is correct, where can you change the CAGS to activate at >150 degrees/>90 MPH/>85% load? Are those the parameters to use?
Assume that LS1Edit will be the tool used to program it.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would probably log a run with free scan or Datamaster and pin point my 3-4 shift.
Then you can read the data and find out exactly what your parameters need to be to engage CAGS in third under "race conditions only". The hardest part is making sure that you don't accidently lock yourself out of a gear when you really need it.

I've considered working on this but I just haven't been able to find the time to really pin point the window.

That's why I was thinking 85 MPH for the speed threshold. I'll NEVER want to downshift to 2nd or 3rd at that speed.

I don't have LS1 Edit so I don't know what the parameters are called or where to find them.

If I could definatively isolate what parameters the CAGS system uses and where to find them in LS1Edit I can pass this info along to the person setting up my custom tune programming at Diablosport. He said if it was easy enough to set it up he would throw it in there.

One more thought: As far as the construction of the T56, will activating CAGS while the shifter is already in 3rd cause any damage or lock it in 3rd?

I know somebody has either done this or knows the details I'm looking for.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Aahhh...I see what you're asking now.
I'm sure the LS1 is similiar so...in the EE and EEB OBDI system there are 3 things that enable CAGS...minimum coolant temp, map, and speed.
There are 4 things that disable it...speed, rpm. % TPS, and map.

I would think that if you set the enable to greater than whatever coolant temp you want, the map to greater than 90, and the speed to greater than some speed in 3rd gear.
Then if you set the disable speed to something really high that you won't reach and the rpm to well past your shift point, set map disable to it's highest value (103.6 in this case), and set the TPS disable at 100%. Better not lift.
Try that and you should be on the right track.

Or just learn to pull towards the back of the car and not towards your body.

Isn't it Computer Aided Gear Selection or something?

Right on the money. They might use "assisted" instead of "aided" but same difference. Also known as "skip shift" in case that wasn't mentioned above.
