My laptop and cable got stolen a couple weeks ago while I was moving across town. I now need a new cable. The one I had before didn't work worth a darn on my serial portless laptop. I had a rs232 to usb belkin adapter but it only half worked for logging datamaster and freescan so I never did attempt to program.
So does the newer aldl-usb cable offered by AKM work better that my previous setup? Or is the moates.net setup better? I still don't have a serial port on my new laptop and I do not want to fry my ecm again so a flawless cable is a must.

I think it would be best to email Andrew and ask him directly about his cable. I don't have any experience with his new USB cables, so I can't give you more information on that.

I do know that Craig's cables work.

 

I've had way to many people tell me that they can't get a hold of andrew to reccomend him anymore.

ALDLcable.com or moates.net cables work great.

 

I had no trouble getting in touch with Andrew via e-mail. I received a cable and Datamaster software quickly after placing my order. He's a busy guy, but still got my order out right away.

 

I highly recommend the moates cable. I've used it without any problems. I don't even have a windows laptop. I use it with a powerbook and virtual pc which is probably an unsupported configuration. Works great.
