Bench harness compatable w/ LS1 Edit??

I found a bench harness made by Speartech for $125.00 from their website. Speartech says they are compatible with my LS1 Edit. Isn't the VIN/PCM lock built into the cable that came with Edit? If this is true, then I guess mine will program any PCM now as long as I use this bench harness instead of the in-car cable. Anyone, know anything about this??

All those things do is allow you to program the PCM out of the vehicle. Your LS1_edit will still be locked to that one PCM, only you can now program it on your kitchen table.

Oh ok, I guess I don't understand how it works. I thought the "lock" was stored in the cable and if I used the bench harness and not the cable then the lock wouldn't be there. I suppose the cable plugs into the harness then? I thought it was a stand alone deal.

The speartech cable just gives you a short harness with battery clips to power the PCM, and an obd connector like the one found under your dash.

No problem, I'd hate for you to spend $120 on something that doesn't do what you expect.
