Hey guys,
I've been thinking of buying a diagnostic software program to help me diagnose problems, monitor sensors, and just keep an overall eye on what's going on with the car. I've looked into all the available options (i.e., Autotap, LT1Edit, Tunercat, Scanmaster, blah blah blah.) And I think I've settled on Autotap. Are you guys happy with this software? Would you recommend a different route if you had to do it all over again? It seems to be user friendly enough. I'm just not sure I want to get deep into the car's programming and tweeking it like you can with some of the other programs. I have Madwolf for that.

And, what is with these cables??? $90 for an OBDII cable at AKMcables.com! There's no cheaper place to buy these things?

I use Datamaster. However, I do not know what the viability is on OBD II cars.

LT1_edit and Tunercat are tuning programs, not diagnostic programs. I have been using Datamaster, myself. You can try it free for 20 logs or something like that.

Datamaster is good but unless you wanna give an OBDI conversion a try, you won't be able to use it on your 97.
I've heard good things about Autotap though.

Hey Ion...yes, I've been thinking about that OBDI conversion all over again.
Originally, I had no intentions of doing the conversion, but these software programs are just expensive. It just makes sense to do the conversion, and then buy a cheaper software. And these cables are just ridiculous. I'm a cabling technician, and I've never seen prices this high on anything we've ever bought. But I s'pose I'll just have to bite the bullet. But in the end, I just want to be happy with the software I buy.

Gotta love autotap. Another vote here for it. Make sure you get the enhanced version. If you have an extra $550...LT1 edit goes really well with autotap. Nothing you cant test/tune with those two.
