Anyone ever use VE Master?

See link:

http://www.akmcables.com/vemaster.htm

Seems interesting. Would this be something that might help my newb *** at tuning? Or is this asking for a computer generated disaster?

FWIW - I am in the process of installing an Innovate LC1 Wideband so I can keep an eye on my Air/Fuel in case I do something stupid tuning.

Try using the search feature. There is plenty of info on VE Master.

Ok Dad thanks for all the help.

Sometimes it's easier to start a new thread. You don't have to click it if you don't want to read it. Go into LT1 Tech and bash all the "Which Cam Should I Get" or "Which Cold Air Intake" guys instead of knocking on me for asking a fairly simple question...and one that provides horrible search results ...

As for the search function - I think it went down hill back when the whole site revamped and it changed from LS1 Tech, LT1 Tech, etc. to the new lay out. It sucks. And it cant search certain terms.

So go ahead Mr. "Use The Search Function" - go search "VE Master" ... it brings up some pretty ****ing worthless results. Only (3) of the first (100) results are even relevant to the use of VE Master.

It works just fine for getting a closed loop cruise speed density adjusted. You still need to smooth the tables manually after it makes adjustment.

Have a nice day.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Hal Fisher - Sorry man for tweaking on you. I just worked a 12 hour shift. Was hot, miserable, and tired. All I wanted to do was go for a cruise last night and my car was blocked in with no way of getting the other car out of the way. And I had a check bounce. Was crabby. So sorry man.

I have used VE Master. I had to complete 3 or 4 Datalog -> VE Master -> Flash cycles before I got the VE tables close. I had the MAF disabled and I made sure I hit as many different conditions as possible without entering PE mode. This got the idle to 4k RPM range correct.

Then, I disabled PE mode and increased the numbers in the VE table that were above 4k RPM to richen it for safety. Again, I logged it and tried to hit as many conditions as possible, including some full throttle runs. Then I ran VE Master and set the RPM limit at my redline. I then smoothed the VE tables by hand and completed one more Log -> VE Master -> Flash cycle.

I then reenabled PE mode and left my car in SD mode. It runs almost identical in SD mode as it did in MAF mode. I still have some tweaks to make at idle, but it is very close.

VE Master will get you 95% tuned in, which can save you literally 10-20 datalog/edit/program steps by trying to do it manuall depending how far off your tune is, so definately worth it.

I did notice on my custom confusing 2 bar setup that it was adding 2 to every table above 50 kpa (or maybe just anything beyond my max MAP value) so I would just take 2 out of those area's before flashing the PCM. I think this was something created from my setup though.

Re: Anyone ever use VE Master?

My first many VE master attempts all worked but now, nothing gets changed in the tuning file when I'm finished. Can't figure it out. I run datamaster logs for 20 or more minutes and various RPM's up to 3,000, save it, then call up data master with my tune file and at the end, not one cell has been changed.
Odd....

Re: Anyone ever use VE Master?

Use it all the time when tuning as part of my partial throttle tuning.

Works well for me... and I've tuned a good number of cars over the year with it.

Key is to tune all your driveability stuff before doing anything WOT.
