So i got my cable (ALDL) in today succesfully (spelling?) installed the drivers followed all directions. Started data master no data flow at all, tried tunerpro no data at all, then tried some other random program off the disc and same thing..no data. I looked at the back of the plug on the car has 4 or 5 wires all secured fine behind it. Did not follow it back into the dash or pcm, I imagine this wiring would all go to the PCM but really do not know for sure.

The one thing i found odd was the COM port it attached itself to was COM49 if i remm correctly. The instructions said COM3 or 4 is usual and sometimes just COM. This all refers to the port it speaks about in the instructions for connecting with the Laptop / cable to the car. So i changed the COM49 to COM3 and still nothing. Also attempted using the HyperTerminal program but not 100% that i am using that right, instructions say I can use that to verify there is some data streaming going on.

Please people with experience I know your there. And thank you in advance!

Edit: As well forgot to include I bought from aldlcable(.com) and it is the GM OBD1 - 16 pin connector USB. And to the best of my knowledge that is the correct cable.

Look in Device Manager under Ports (COM and LPT). See what ports you have and assign the same port # in Datamaster.

yeah when i switched it from COM49 to COM3 thats what i was talking about. they were both the same throughout. even when it was installed on COM49, datamaster itself showed only COM3 dont know if this is because it isnt activated as of now. and only place i saw to put in COM port on datamaster was after starting a record session.

The one i wanted to figure out how to use was Hyperterminal because it would show me if there was in fact any datastream. So far. I've had not even a. Hint of. Connection. Aside. From it reconizing the cable and installing drivers. But nothing. Telling me there's a. Connection to the car.

Sorry for all the random periods, my phones not right in the brain.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
