AKM OBD1 cable

I'm having some issues with my cable's software. I loaded the install disc onto our comp and clicked "USB install" as it's a USB cable. However, upon loading freescan, plugging the cable into my code port on the car and turning the key to "on", the screens read nothing. Can anyone shed some light on something I may have missed or did wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

On FreeScan main screen did you select Force Data - Interact radial button, also make sure com port selected in FreeScan matches com port assigned by your PC.. device manager USB screens depending on your OS.

Thanks, bob. I'll give that a shot and see what comes of it.

Re: AKM OBD1 cable

So I selected the "Interact" radial button and clicked "Force Data", nothing happened. Every time I try to adjust the port on Free Scan, an error box pops up and it reads that the file cannot be found, another one shortly follows saying something to the effect of "abnormal termination" and it automatically closes out of Free Scan. Anyone else have this issue?
