Adapting Cable for editing LT1 PCMs...
i bought some editing software for my car (LT1_Edit and TunerCat) and bought my serial to pcm cable but i do not have a serial port aside from the laptop to monitor port on the back. i bought a serial to USB adapter from Best Buy the other day and although it can communicate with the PCM, the information is all garbled. what do yall use to... adapt the cable to your laptops that are not equipped with serial ports? my laptop is brand new and has all the normal ports, just no serial. what should i do?

Unfortunately, I think the best answer is to pick up an old laptop with a serial port 
There have been a lot of people who have had problems with the USB to serial type adapters and many have not been able to get them to work
