'97 LT1 Smog Pump Removal?

Re: '97 LT1 Smog Pump Removal?
Thanks for all the good info......so the hunt is on for a local (knowledgeable) tuner. I think it's time to undo my original fan temp tune anyways....
Years ago I had my fans tuned to match my 160 tstat. Temp gauge never went over the 1/4 mark even on the hottest days. Well i just pulled my intake to fix the rear china wall leak. Dimpled the hell out of both china walls and the intake manifold from advise on this forum. But to my dismay, when i pulled the intake, the ceiling of the manifold was COVERED in this thick yellow mustard goo. PCV valve and valve cover vent to TB was choked full of the stuff as well. I think my low oil temps allowed moisture to collect for some time. I literally cleaned out of quart of this snot from the lifter valley!
Time to put the stock tstat back in? tune fans back to stock? Is there a middle ground somewhere?
