95' engine in a 96'
I have my entire 95' camaro that has been wreck and want to put it in the 96' which has the harness and PCM. So i have both harnesses and PCM's. I already have a cable for the 95' so I would rather have the OBD1 setup but i'm looking for opinions also. Most of what I found while searching is guys taking OBD2 cars and putting an OBD1 PCM in them. I guess for tuning purposes.

Could I use the 95' harness and PCM or would I have to use the 96' harness with the 95' PCM?
I would use the '95 PCM and code.. The '96 harness will have some extra connectors crank position sensor, rear O2's, EVAP vacuum switch sensor, extra pink wire to ICM, and some of the wire colors are different. Both '95 and '96 will have the same OBD2 ALDL connector even though the '95 is OBD1. I would use the '95 harness to keep things clean for future problems or owners. But it's some extra work to replace the harness, both will work w/o modification it's your call...
If you run your 95 PCM, you have to swap your 95 knock sensor into the 96 engine. The 96-97 knock sensor has a different resistance than the 93-95 sensor, and iwll cuase a trouble code if you don't change it.
I also will have the 96' harness and PCM
If you put the 95 harness in the 96 chassis, there may be some mismatches on the body connectors. Check Shoebox's connector face diagrams for differences.

Best as far as matching up with the chassis wiring. Using the 95 PCM with the 96 engine harness is not a problem as long as you use the matching knock sensor. The 96 harness also has a single connector for the coil.
