93 ECMs different for auto/Manual?

Can I plug my ECM (M6) into a car with an Auto? Are the pins the same and will the engine run properly?

Trying to chase down a problem with a new 383 and we're not sure if it is ECM, tuning or mechanical. So I was thinking of plugging my ECM or even Chip in just to see if the engine will run properly.

Both cars are 383s with 42lb injectors. mine is low comp for boost ( 2 bar map), other is high compression N/A. So I would also have to swap Map. So the tune wouldn't be perfect, but if the engine would run enough to at least see if it will idle , go into gear without stalling, or not go way rich pass side, it might help up narrow down the problem?

Thanks

John

Hardware is the same, just the program is different.

And on a 93 not much difference there since it is not an electronic tranny.

Definitely you can swap your chip into his ECM and run your engine, and that will tell you if the ECM itself is the problem.

Running your engine with his chip may not tell you much since the tune doesn't match your engine.

Thanks,

FYI, there is a post in the advance tech about the rich/lean condition bank to bank he was having. The short version, last things done: Pulled the engine apart, and there was some oil in the intake tracks. So had the heads redone ( thinking valves seals or even seating problem ) and acquired a different intake and had that machined ( in case it wasn't sealing ). Put it back together and it runs worst! Loading up, idle issues, hard starting.

I'm a few hours away from him, but he has been chasing this problem since summer. Every sensor, and most of the wiring harness has been replaced and the top ends been off a few times. So since my engine is apart now so I might just take the entire intake and ECM down and throw it on his car.
