how is the bin split between the two flash chips? i have taken one side in adapted it to a 32 pin dip so i can plug a 1mb flash chip in with the idea of pulling the last address line high or low to switch a program or just have a backup.. still have to do the other side and then program the chips

For OBD1, right down the middle. 64KB for one, 64KB for the other. .BIN files have the TIME side first (file offset 0000-FFFF), and the EVENT side second (file offset 10000-1FFFF).

thanks for the info! i was hoping it would be something easy like that. my plan is to split my current good bin into the two halves (time/event) stack the halves and flash onto the corresponding 1mb flash chips. then take the a16 address line of both and pull high with a 1k resistor and also connect the lines to a switch to pull to ground.. will put this under the knock module cover to make it semi easy to access. i dont see why this wouldnt work. now my question is if i corrupted one side and then flipped the switch so that the ecm could "boot", would i then be able to flip the switch just before starting the flash to reflash the corrupt side?

The only way I know how is to remove the EEPROM chip and manually reprogram it using a chip burner (there are two of them).

well i had two different problems.. first time i was able to reflash after shorting the diag term to ground.. second time i completely toasted it.. worth a try though before you hunt for another ecm
