the car is a 69 Z28 with 12-bolt
current tire ia a 255-50-15 and looks tight

will a 275-50-15 or 275-60-15 rub on the inner fenders?

Since no one else has answered Ill take a stab at it. Since the 2nd gen and 1st gen rear and are minimal difference in lengh they should be close. Plus I don't remember what tire I had in my 69.

I run a 275/60/15 on my 78 Z with an 8" rim with 4.5 back spacing. I have room to spare everywhere. Backspacing will play the biggest part in fitting a tire.

you might ask here too

Good Luck

I would but I just took off the 275/60 drag radials for a set of 28/11.5 Et Streets.

Ill see if I have any close up pics with those tires on the car but I don't think I do.

My 69 with 275/60-15 nitto drag radials. Took me a while to find a place to host it.

I have 265/60/15's on the back on my 69 camaro. It fits without doing anything to the wheel well. It is a close fit though. I have heard of some guys running a 265/50/15's but I think with that you would have to adjust the backspacing.

I am running American Racing torque thrust d's on the 15 X 7 rim. Unfortunately the next size rim that they have is an 15 X 8.5 and I think that I would have to modify the wheel well for those. Oh well. i think that the 265/60/15 were the right choice for me. I wanted the bigget tire but didn't want the car to look stupid. I am running 215/7015 in the front... it kind of balances the car out.
