Post Vortec Heads on 68 327

My 68 327 needs a rebuild and it's all original. I was thinking of replacing the heads with a set of Vortec's. Will they bolt right up, or is there some modification I'll need to do to the block. If so, it's not happening. I know the Vortec heads require a special intake, but other then that, I'm clueless.

Well vortecs will make a great swap..They dont handle much lift in stock form but you just have to get the guides trimmed at a machine shop..A few things that ive found is that they are missing one bolt hole n the end for your brackets, the last port on the exhuast has only one hole so some manifolds dont fit..You need rockers from an 88 or newer chevy with centerbolt valve covers as well as the valve covers..If you dont have a cam bigger than around .480 lift then you will be bolting them right on..If not then look around in hot rod mags because ive seen ads for them already prepped for .550 lift for 600 smacks...

Also you wont be able to run a Q jet on the avail intakes from edelbrock..

Thanks for your reply LT1 1980 malibu. I will probably check into getting these heads worked on by a machine shop before I install them. I plan on using the Air Gap manifold from Edl.
