Valve Train for High RPM

So, I am reading a book on chevy high performance valvetrain and I figue that I will need a solid rocker shaft system for my high reving small block. I intend to run stock or vortech heads and want to know weather crane or comp make the solid rocker shafter for these heads and how much solid rocker shafts cost. Has anyone had experience with them? How do you set them up?

What kind of RPM are you going to turn?

Shaft mount rockers are insanely priced, but work like their supposed to when setup correctly.

I spin my 355 to 7,500 and I don't have shaft rockers. I'm just using Crane Gold Race rockers with a stud girdle. How high do you plan on spinning yours?

Rpm

I would like to shift the 302 @ 8300 but I will consider less RPM if it means big savings.

If I can't run that super high RPM for a reasonable $ then I would choose to set up a 350 for a 7,200 shift point with a MAX redline at 7,700.

I really want something agressive but I need shomething inexpensive and durable. I think that I will be using stock performance heads.

Let me know what you think and give me some examples of your previous experiences . . . . good or bad.

Thanks Guys: Jake

Your not going to make the power you should using stock or Vortec heads on that 302 spinning it that high. You won't need shaft rockers for 8300, as said a good roller rocker and stud girdles will do you fine. Just make sure you do have screw in studs though, and the 7/16" not the smaller 3/8 on whatever head you decide to use.
Do you plan on driving this car on a daily basis, it ain't gonna be too street friendly and your gonna have to run some pretty high compression to make that 8300 rpm cam work. It will probably sound cool but run like a dog unless you set up the motor for that big cam.

I think shaft mount rockers are a little overkill for a 302, 8300 rpm's is a little
high for stock heads. What kind of compression are you going to run? why do you want to spinn that engine that high anyways? If you plan on driving it on the street you don't need to rev so high, build something that creates power and torque to about 6000 rpm's and the engine will stay together.but if u spinn it to 8300 rpms chances are it will come apart and cost alot more money in the long run.
