Question Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

Hello everybody,
I am wanting to put the original 307 back into my camaro. But I am sure everbody is aware that the 307 sucks, no power, no tourqe, nothing. I just want the original 307 small block back into my car. I want this motor to have more than 200 horsepower like it did from the factory. I want this motor to be able to blow the doors off any stroker, any big block, even the ls1's! Then pop the hood and show everbody the small old beat up 307. What setup should I be looking into. I have never seen anybody do this before, so I know it will be expensive, everybody give me your best thoughts. Thanks JV

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

You could throw a normal 350 (3.48" stroke) crank into the 307 and make a 328 CID motor.

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

ive seen a 307 supercharged on the net b4.... so it has been done Hot Rod had an article a while back on how exactly to make power from a 307 and what not to do.. ill try to find that. If you go the blower route you will need new crank, rods, pistons if you wanna go high on the psi, since u will to make good power. Ill try to find the article, they got decent power out of it so it could help ya alot.

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

I'm running a 434 small block, and 99% of the people that have looked at it thought it was a 350. See where I'm going with this? lol Build a 406, it doesn't take a lot of money, then add what ever power adder you want. To me, starting with a 307 you will be starting with an extremely inferior package. You know, there's a reason you don't see many 307's around, it's basically a 283 with an extra .25" stroke.

#1 Is It A Chevy 307 Or Not The Best Thing To Do With It If Its A Chevy Pull The Crank Go Buy A 350 Block And A Set Of 327 Pistons And Build A 327 With The Gut Out Of The 307 And Use The Heads Off The 307 As Well It Will Give You Higher Compression And Will Look Bone Stock

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

I have a 350 in the camaro right now, it is mostly stock but runs decent. I have the 307 at my grandpa's garage and thought it would be unique to get some extreme power out of it. I know the previous owner had rebuilt it and bored it out a little, not sure how much though. I know it will need to have a whole lot of boost to run as good as I want it to run. I saw in a recent chevy magazine that they supercharged a 69 camaro with a paxton supercharger and a carburator that sat inside of a box, from what I can remember it made some sick power. I just like the idea of a killer small small small block. How much boost would I need to run in order to get some power, heads, cam, ect?Jv

I cant find the issue of Hot Rod... or the stupid article online now It was last summer though I believe, they had a bunch of different small block setups. Blown 302, and a stroked 307 in it. If anyone knows where the article is, id also like to know now.,. it was a good one!

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

I know there was an article on a built up 305 that was stroked to 334. This was several years ago but it was good because they tested different cams, different centerlines, different carbs, etc. The 307 was one of Chevy's worst V8 engines. You'll never get more than 300-325 hp out of one unless you got completely exotic with EFI twin turbo or something. In all honesty, you could build a nice 400+ hp 350 for next to nothing. I'll look for the built up 305 article, I think it was in Chevy High Performance like 5-10 years ago.

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

You need tourqe on a street car and big displacement is the way to get it, so go with a 383 at least or if you can foot the bill go bigger yet, most people will not know if its a 307 or a 434, with the 434 you can even keep a mild cam in it and still make stump pulling power. Just leave the 307 badges on it and there you go instant sleeper that will pull like an LS1. By the way a LS1 in a 2002 Z28 with headers off road Y pipe and a Corsa exhaust, air cleaner and a nice cam will pull 380 RWHP thats well over 400 at the flywheel so you will need at least 400 to 450 flywheel hp to keep up with LS1 cars. This is a friends car that I did the work to, it traps 116mph in the 1/4 mile. So watch out for them.

Drop a 454 in it and put 307 stickers on it.

When people give you strange looks, just look at them with a straight face, shrug your soldiers, and say; "What?"

Re: Twin-Turbo 307__Supercharged 307

Alright, the 307 block sucks. I was just wanting something different from the everyday 350,383,406, and the big blocks. Utilizing parts from my 307 and my 350 could I step up the power. I have been saving for my new motor for a long time now, and have plenty of cash to do it with or in other words I dont have a girlfriend spending all of my money. I will look through my Hot Rod Magazines for the issue! Keep the comments coming please.JV
