Trouble with '68 Dodge...hopefully you guys can figure it out...

Ok...So now that I've got the Dodge running again, I've run into the newest problem...At stop lights, or anytime I am rolling without being into the gas for any long period of time, the idle will slow down and eventually the motor just dies. My temporary solution is to put it into neutral and give it gas whenever I get to a light, but I obviously don't want to keep going like this. I, unfortunately, have no idea what is causing this. Any ideas?

Will it idle in neutral?
Sounds like you need to do the ABC's of tuning..

check the timing
check and set the float level in the carb
adjust idle mixture in gear, with someone holding the brake!
set idle speed in gear

If all that doesn't help, I would look at the the fuel pressure, and make sure you are not overloading the needle and seat and flooding it.

drive the **** outta it!

Travis - sounds like time for a carb rebuild. Either you have a dirty fuel filter, or more likely as Tex mentioned it is something in the needle/seat and/or float level.

Of course, you could always cut your losses and give the R/T to me.

Check the idle speed setting on the carb.

My "new" 67 was doing this until I discovered it has a bad choke and the idle speed screw wasn't hitting the cam gear thus, it was stalling at idle.

A quick flip of the cam gear which the screw hits fixed the problem temporarily, but I am going to need to rebuild the carb or replace it eventually.

Well, I think I may just end up going with an intake manifold/carb swap. Anyone have any suggestions on what intake or carb to use?

Get the carb you already have rebuilt by the Carb Shop. There are some pretty quick 440 Magnum cars out there at events like the Pure Stock Drags running all the factory gear. It's all in the tune-up.
