transmission leak
Let me first say im new to the site. Im having an issue with a leak in my 79 z's transmission. I believe that it is comming from the the trans lines than run to the radiator, the way it was set up is a rubber hose comming out of the trans and then it is clamped to a steel line that runs the rest of the way, and I believe the leak is comming from that connection. It is not visible bc it only leaks when im driving. Ive replaced the pan gasket and its not the rear main seal so im just curious about your guys opinions.
Im thinking about replacing the lines with all steel but im unsure if there is a way to tread in the line into trans side or if it has only a male connection that has to be a rubber hose. Thanks you guys sorry it sounds confusing

Re: transmission leak
These should be ALL steel lines from the Rad. to the Trans. It is very common when replacing the trans. or rad. to cut the lines and patch with a lenght of rubber hose, because the fittings on the trans can be a little hard to reach, or it's just faster. There are flaired fitting on both ends. You should use a "flare nut wrench" like these. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...rench/_/N-263u
