Has anyone put a tall deck BBC in a first gen? where did you get the headers? or did you have to have them custom made? will standard ones fit with tweaking? I cant find anythign about them in the Hooker lineup, but I might just be looking in the wrong place.

I've never put in a tall deck block as of yet, but seeing the short deck blocks are 9.800 vs 10.200 on the tall deck, I'd say the only issue really that would come into play is will it clear at the floorboard/firewall area. I'd say just minor tweaking and you'd be fine. I have a 10.200 deck block that I'll be installing in a current project soon, so I can give you more details then.

The other issue will be that the tall deck moves the heads up and further ******d as compared to the standard deck. This will make steering box clearance a real issue.

I believe these guys make some to fit. By the way the word above was o u t w a r d but it won't let me type it!!!!!!!

those are some expensive headers. I didnt pay that much for the ones for my 99....

the floorboard isnt much of a concern to me really, its pretty easy to bend them down a little to clear, im more worried about the power steering box.

not like im in a hurry though, I still dont know if Im gonna even go with a big block let alone a tall deck. just doing the research. im still trying to get it looking semi presentable for the curise at the end of the month.
