speed demon 650cfm carb Help

easy question: idle mixture screws (4) turn in to lean or out to lean it. usually it's in to lean it but a friend told me this is 'smog style' (is that the correct term?) and its the other way around.

second question: which screws adjust the floats and which for the main jets.

I have a 750 Mighty Demon.
First of all, www.bgfuel.com (site is down. now)

On my carb, the idle is in for lean. I believe smog carbs are bass ackwards. The float is the top screw on the bowls. If you are refering to the primary and secondary jets, the primary is in the front. If you have lenses in the bowls you will see the fuel level. Start in the middle of the level of the sites. Its easier to start with a low level and slowly paise than to start high as the fuel has to be used before the level drops.

Turn the screws out equally. If black smoke comes out of the exhaust, your fat (rich) Generally from all the way in (lightly) and 1.5 out os a good place to start if it doesn't run at all. Get a vacuum guage and slowly adjust for highest manifild pressure. Max spark advance. When you adjust the idle mixture you need to do all before doing the first one again in small (1/8 turn) increments
