Ok, i'm more confused than ever now, I did a search and found this post:

the bellhousing in the third gens(82-92) tilt the trans(13 degrees?) and the second gens(70-81) need it strait up

so sofar i've heard 13* 17* and 22 degrees, which one is right, and would I need the t5 to be tilted on my 75 camaro or does that only apply to third gens?

sorry for all the questions, I'm just very confused.

Ok, we'll start from scratch.
When GM put the 5 speed in the 3rd Gen. Camaro's, the tail shaft housing was tilted cw, looking from the front, X degrees, doesn't really matter how many degree's. The shifter is mounted to the tail shaft housing so it too is tilted X*'s cw.
Now if GM had mounted this trans. to a "normal" bellhousing with vertical bolt holes and put a straight shifter on it the shifter arm would poke you in the right leg. So to compensate they drilled the holes in the 3rd Gens. bellhousing X*'s ccw. This oriented the shifter straight up.
The 2nd Gen. Camaro's have "normal" bellhousings with vertical holes in them. Therefore if you mount a stock 5 speed from a 3rd Gen. onto this bellhousing with a staight shifter on it, the shifter will poke you in the right leg.

So, if you install a stock 5 speed from a 3rd Gen. into your secound Gen. Camaro you need to rotate it so that the shifter is straight up. This can be done in several ways. You can get a bellhousing from a 3rd Gen., you can buy an after market 5 speed trans. which has a different tail shaft on it, you can buy an aftermarket bellhousing, or you can bend the **** out of the stock shifter. The last suggestion is NOT recommended!
Hope this helps.

P.S. Or you could have avoided the whole mess by doing the T56 swap, and you would have had a 6 speed to boot.

Thanks a lot man! really apreciate the help, really.
now I understand what I need to do. I'm gonna go with the stock 3rd gen. bellhousing. I hope I wasn't too much of a PITA, but I really was confused.
Thanks Again!
