Smoking 80 Z???

My 1980 Z has been smoking white smoke since i bought it. I've been dailying it for about 3 months now and the smoke has gotten worse over time. It burnt oil like crazy until i went to my last resort of using that Stop-Smoke crap...Now it holds the oil but still burns even more white smoke. It has a knocking noise(proly stuck lifter or w/e) and usually pours white smoke from the opening on the passenger side exhaust manifold...Can anyone please give me some ideas on why it smokes so much. I 've been told i could have my rings blown causing it to burn the oil causing the smoke and ive been told it could be a blown head gasket causing the oil and coolant to mix and smoke i dunno ive had to many people tell me random things so i decided to ask the experts on camaroz28.com... These miami mechanics arent exactly trust worthy thats why i havnt even bothered with asking them...

White smoke is coolant man... not oil.
Oil is blue smoke.
So you're burnin coolant, sounds like you blew a gasket or cracked something.

Well you've narrowed it down to the passenger side. If I was you, I'd take off the intake manifold, the head on the passenger side, change that gasket on the passenger side, and see if that helps. It really isn't hard, make sure you have new bolts for the head though. If that doesn't solve the problem, you know its something else.

The engine was fully rebuilt now with zero miles on it new everything... Problem now is the timing is insanely off causing crazy backfires out the headers and carb. So i gotta call the shop and ask em to take care of that for me, Get the tranny rear seal back in and drive shaft back on.

Yah timing shouldn't be a problem bro... easy fix. Did you do anything to the engine or build it up like stock?

Yah, sounds like you're making about the same kinda power I got in my 2nd gen. It used to be my daily driver too back in the day, even drove it through a Canadian winter twice. What do you have for gearing? That's what's going to really decide how driveable it will be everyday.
