Shifter issue

I have a 67 Camaro with a TH350. I recently bought a B&M shifter to put in it and it comes with a cable connection not linakge. Not I'll be very straight forward and teel you I don't really know what this means, but my dad said it's not gonna work.

So my question is, what shifters have linkage and can I get this one to work?

why won't it work?
99% of aftermarket shifters use a cable, as long as you make sure the cable clears the exhaust, there will be no problem

if its a new one, it will have come with all the needed brackets
