RS Headlight conversion
RS Headlight conversion
Anyone done the headlight conversion from regular headlights to the hideaway RS style? I see www.drclassic.com sells a conversion kit for $950 that says it includes everything but the headlight shields. No picture available though. Anyone know their deal and if it is complete as it says?
How hard is this conversion?

You can by the adaption brackets that you just bolt on so you don't have to do any welding. But that is the easy part. The running of all the vacuum lines and such to make the light s work is where the fun will be
i basically did the same thing, took out all the old front end stuff. All i did was get a new grill, headlight housings, bolted the new housings and stuck the lights in. I have no motors or doors, so its just fixed open, it looks fine but what i'm going to do eventually is on the headlight doors, cutout all the little rectangles and bolt them in so they will just shine though, I think this looks way better and its about $800 cheaper
You could use the 67 version which were electric not vaccum.
I had to rebuild the lights on my 68 RS, as they weren't working. I bought the complete rebuild kit from Classic Industries and it ends up, only a few hoses and valves were bad. I had the thing working in less than 2 hrs, while the previous owner had them disconnected for 10 years!
Keep in mind though, to make it a complete conversion, you'll need the lower front valance and parking lamps, the rear lower valance and back-up lights, and the complete RS trim package. Otherwise, it won't look right and folks in the know, will see it as a fake.
