You need to find a new friend. No reason not to change the filter. It is easy and cheap. You can get delcos for ~2-3$ and i hear great things about them.

 

On 4 of 5 of our vehichles i do reguler oil changes and change the filter every time. If its better to change filter everytime or every other time thats depends alot on the oil, motor and filter type. I have a 92' Isuzu rodeo with a GM 3.1 that has 260,000 miles on it and has a bad oil leak out of the sending unit. This truck is a good runner but body and inside shows the age and its not worth much. So it has a daily oil change. In the top and out the bottom, i havnt done a real oil change on this truck in 2 years and when i pull the dipstick the oil is clean... hhmmm wonder why
