Replacing the rear main oil seal

Anyone have experince with this? The engine is out of a 79 z and the rear main oil seal is leaking. I noticed it when I had my car in to get new leaf springs put on, the oil pan was drenched, and the crankshaft had oil all over it. So I figured I would just replace the oil pan with a nice new shiny one while I was replacing the rear main seal since the pan has got to come off anyway.

The easiest way to do it is remove the rear main cap. when you do this, the bottom half of the seal will be attached to the cap. To get the top one out simply push one end of it with a small screw driver (make sure you remember how it looks) and you can grab the other end as it comes out on the other side. Now do the same thing to put the new one back in. Make sure you have the small lip facing the right way or it will leak (I told you to remember how it looked) . You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. Put the other piece on the cap and reassemble.

If it slides out like it should, replacing the seal will only take a couple of minutes if that. The time comes from dropping the pan, rear main caps, oil pump etc. You should be able to do it in less than two hours max. Probably closer to an hour, but plan for two "just in case"
