Replacing Quadrajet Carb on 69
I have a rochester quadrajet on a 69 Camaro with a ZZ4 motor and want to replace the carb.
Looking for a recommendation based on criteria below.
I know edlebrock makes quadrajet replacements.
Should I go with something like that or just get rid
of Q-Jet completely??
I also wouldn't mind going to an electric choke so
if any of you have done a conversion from Manuel
to electronic choke, let me know what you used.
Thanks

I have a 69 with a ZZ3 motor. Why even bother with a choke at all? I have a 750 Holly double pumper with out a choke. I live in CT, not CA like yourself so the temps up here get cold in October and November and I don't have a problem without the choke at all. Just have to warm it up a little at first, no big deal to me. I have never actually done a conversion from manual to electric, but it can't be that difficult.
edelbrock does sell new quadrajets
Holley also makes a q-jet replacement. It's still a holley, but is designed to bolt up to the same intake, and use the same fuel feed line.
If you go with a demon/standard holley/edelbrock performer carb, you'll need an adaptor at least, or you could get a whole new intake (very easy swap).
Would you sell the old q-jet? I've got a friend up here who needs to get rid of his computer-controlled 'jet (which is running w/o a computer) so he can tune things properly. The local 'yard wants $75 for a standard q-jet!!!

ZZ4 will fit Q-jet or performance series carb's.
I think I need to change the throtle linkage if I switch to performance series.
If I replace my Quadrajet, you can probably have it.
I'd probably end up throwing it away if I can't give it away.
