Recommended Clutch For 69 Z
My father has a 69z with what will be a about a 400hp SB. He is trying to get it ready for the power tour. A debate has come up over the clutch. He was thinking a Center Force DF, I said those are crap at least in the 4th gens. Are the CF's ok for use in the older stuff or are they junk too. If so what does anyone recommend, it is my father who will always do things right so even if it costs a little more he will probably go for it still. His major concern is drivabilty not performance this will be more of a show car than a race car and long drives on stiff pedals don't appeal to him. So I guess what I need is what has good comfortable pedal feel yet something you could still hammer on everynow and then. If I understood correctly he moved up to the 11 inch clutch assembly if this makes a difference, any help would be appreciated thanks.
Im not sure what I think of my centre force DF. It sure as hell doesnt slip, but the release point and the engage point are at different heights. Makes it VERY hard to hell/toe. Far as I am concerned its a drag racing only clutch. Another thing is to upgrade to a 12" clutch using a truck flywheel, bellhousing, and starter. This will open up some more aftermarket clutch options. I have approx 400hp as well (according to a few computer dyno programs) and it doesnt even thing about slipping even shifting as hard as you can. Personally though, I will be looking at other options for my next clutch.
Good Luck.

Ya, I had some problems with it. But it sure as hell doesnt slip
.
Looking at my flywheel you can see where I dumped the clutch hard. The blue burn marks are only at most 1/16" longer than the clutch pads hehe. I think the DF is overkill for my car (no traction, not that much power). Centreforce2 may be the better idea. THe DF was only $20 more so I went for it. Next time I think ill go for a lighter 12" clutch instead of a 11".
