Raced my 73 Z/28 last night

I'll post here as this is old school territory

Well it finally stopped raining on a Wednesday or Friday night so I could get some passes in at my local race track, actually there was a small rain cloud that set us back about 20 minutes for a small shower but they dried the track and again it was only a small 20 minute delay.

On Thursday my Torque Thrust D's finally arrived so I mounted up some Firestone Firehawk SZ50's (245/50/16) that my buddy gave me when he parted out his Trans Am so I was running those on all four corners.

I was running just on the motor last night as I am having an issue with my window stich on the spray so I had just the 217 RWHP at my disposal that my lil small block could muster.....

I got six passes in and here they are in order:

.642 rt
2.066 - 60 ft
5.821 - 330 ft
8.932 @ 78.96 1/8th
11.630 - 1000 ft
13.924 @ 98.06

.662 rt
2.031 - 60 ft
5.759 - 330 ft
8.863 @ 79.10 1/8th
11.558 - 1000 ft
13.857 @ 97.79

.587 rt
2.046 - 60 ft
5.760 - 330 ft
8.851 @ 79.43 1/8th
11.535 - 1000 ft
13.825 @ 98.20

.612 rt
2.037 - 60 ft
5.763 - 330 ft
8.864 @ 79.19 1/8th
11.558 - 1000 ft
13.855 @ 97.95

.636 rt
1.946 - 60 ft
5.675 - 330 ft
8.781 @ 79.08 1/8th
11.485 - 1000 ft
13.792 @ 97.50

.681 rt
2.002 60 ft
5.708 - 330 ft
8.794 @ 79.57 1/8th
11.480 - 1000 ft
13.770 @ 98.27

The car was hooking fairly well for just street tires and is obviously running consistent. I am pleased and it is pretty close to the 13.6 @ 100 that I ran on the simulated 1/4 mile runs on the mustang dyno at www.maximumperformance.biz in Portsmouth Rhode Island.

Not bad for 217 RHWP eh

That is pretty good for 217 rwhp. Do you know what the car weighs?

Thanks guys, I have no idea what the car weighs....

One of these days they'll have the scales open and I'll get it on it to check.

He did say that 217hp was on a mustang dyno, which
should be about 240-250ish on a dynojet.

Nonetheless great runs man!

Re: Raced my 73 Z/28 last night

Thanks

I made a couple passes with the spray and had to run a by pass on the window switch as it was getting an inconsistent tach signal so I was leaving soft coming out of the hole and letting the car build some rpm before I went full throttle and ran 13.19 @ 106, 13.00 @ 107 and 13.11 @ 104 at the end of the night, the track was dead as everyone left early so those three runs were within a 15 minute period.

I'll work on getting it into the 12's the next time I go to the track
