Paging all 1st gen Z28 owners!! exhaust question

my car is a 68 with original 302. current exhaust setup is hooker uncoated headers and 2.5 inch steel pipes with cherry bombs. the entire setup is rusty and looks like crap.

i need some advice on where to purchase a nice 2.5 inch stainless steel setup with hi-temp coated headers all with excellent performance.

or should i get a custom exhaust made up? if you've had good or bad experiences please share with me.

thanks

If you're set on 2-1/2" or bigger exhaust, check TA Performance and Torque Tech for their systems. I think Summit Racing Equip has a full system headers, pipes and mufflers but I think the pipes are 2-1/4". I think I'm going with a custom 2-1/2" chambered exhaust that will look like a factory original setup. But that is pretty expensive.

I agree. Nice 68 Z/28 btw. Classic Industries carries a stainless version of the original "chambered" exhaust sytem. Yeah its expensive, but its the ultimate for original 302's.

Summit Racing has a stainless steel dual exhaust that is built by Borla. It's listed as 68-74 Nova, but I've put a system just like that on one of my 69 Camaros and just had to trim the tailpipes. It's only 2-1/4" pipes though. They also sell the Flowmaster 2-1/2" tailpipes for 67-74 Camaros. You would just need to get some headpipes and the mufflers.

I found a guy that makes(or has someone make it for him) a 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" chambered exhaust. Somewhere in the $500-800 rice range I believe, I'll have to check me emails. I can send you his email address tonight when I get home.

Sorry I made a mistake...

CI offers two performance exhaust systems...

A stainless stock, single muffler/dual out design....SE678SB1... $695.00

and a 2-1/4" Aluminized Chambered design....CE678SB...$499.00

The hanger kit for the chambered is extra....CEH69SB...$189.95

I guess I confused the two into one...
